The series is set in Naples , in the imagination " Sant'Andrea police " in Piscinola district. "La Squadra" gives a realistic overview of the world of crime through the cases investigated by the Sant'Andrea police station in Naples, which are intertwined with the private affairs of the agents in a skilful mix of detective story and soap.

Set mostly in Rome between 1940 and 1948 “La Storia” looks at fascism, World War II and Italy’s early postwar period through a female prism. Ida, a half Jewish widow with a teen-age son named Nino, is raped by a drunken German soldier and gets pregnant with Useppe. The tale is centered on how she survives her predicament.

John, a 35-year-old window cleaner, has dedicated his life to bringing up his 4-year-old son, Michael, after the child's mother left them soon after giving birth. When John is given only a few months left to live, he attempts to find a new, perfect family for Michael, determined to shield him from the terrible reality of the situation.
